Growth Mahogany

Can I reduce the growth of the tip of my trees, to help them get a little body?
Trees are also a reference Natal mahogany tree Corral and a Wisteria tree. The trees are all young and Standing over 7 feet tall. Childhood (which is good) But I want to develop a thick stem.
If you cut the "pipe" of growth (the tip of the terminal at the top of the tree), then next year growth will be outside (on branches) instead of above. That's what I'd do if you want the tree to be shorter and more bushy. This affects The thickness of the trunk, which becomes progressively thicker each year, and generally become thicker if you have access to more water.
