Matboard Mat Board

Tips on matboard model?

Hey guys. My teacher assigned an extra credit project that has me building a model of Washington Square (NYC) out of mat board. This is my first time building a model so I was wondering if you could share some tips. I searched google, but matboard doesn’t seem to be such a popular material. Anything is appreciated.
