My hair is very thin, what kind of foam that I use to give volume and curl my hair better?

My hair is very thin, which means it is very flat and I can not make it with barley! What is the moss some who say that you can buy at Wal-Mart or Target is cheap and it works very well (and not sticky and does not smell)? In addition, this is a very good thing about curling loops right? Thank you for the help!
